How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
That saying has helped me quite a bit during the last few weeks. To not be too impatient with the recovery process but rather focus on what I can do today to give my body the tools it needs to become fit and healthy.
I’ve been so busy at work that I didn’t have time to dwell on the fact that my tummy ached or that I’m starting to develop a fever. It did mean that I took a few tea breaks where I focus on just breathing again and trying to find perspective again. About actually is important.
A deadline is a deadline is a deadline.
Yes it’s important.
Yes I take my career very seriously.
But it’s still just a deadline.
The earth won’t stop rotating if I miss the deadline.
World War III won’t erupt.
Thousands won’t die.
So it means that I’ll give my very best but at the end of the day it’s a deadline.
Getting perspective again and then aiming to ‘eat the elephant’ one bite at a time has helped me to put plans in place to live a healthy lifestyle and take one day at a time.
Another day has come and gone – and I’m still OK.
Going for checkup at my Gastroenterologist tomorrow. (hoping the flare has subsided!)
